Following on from my last Blog item about the up-coming XML Conference X-Pubs in Reading (June 4th to 5th 2007) a couple of further developments which affect the S1000D community. Two new presenters have been announced
With the DITA discussion groups still covering 'Should we - Should we not' do something detailed about mapping it to S1000D, the X-pubs conference promises to be a good place to get up to date quickly about the current thinking.
To help a little in your decisions about whether to attend this conference, I have put a bit more detail here about the two presentations highlighted in this Blog. Of course you can find out all the information about Presenters and how to Register from the Website.
Harvey Greenberg - XyEnterprise
Harvey is going to review two different case studies that have similar approaches to problem solving even though they come from greatly different industry settings. The contention is that by using a sound analytical foundation, XML and content management can work together to make very hard problems easy.
Evolving standards such as S1000D and DITA and technologies such as InfoPath are further reducing cost and time to implementation and making XML approachable for people throughout the enterprise.
Wayne Gafford from ADL SCORM
ADL, as we know, have signed a memorandum of agreement with ASD so that they can cooperate in the driving closer links and interoperability between the two specifications.
Being of a practical nature, what will be of particular interest is thatthis presentation is going to demonstrate how learning content structured in the S1000D international technical data spec is a benefit to the DoD training community. The presentation will also demonstrate how technical data structured in S1000D can be imported directly into courseware and made SCORM-conformant.
