Twelve Months On

It is now about 12 months since I started the S1000D Blog and there has been a lot happening in the S1000D arena. A lot of this is happening behind the scenes but I believe that there seems to be a shift to making more of the Specification Development more accessible to the greater public. Time, of course, will tell.

Has anyone read the S1000D Blog?

I think that the answer to that is YES!

I have just looked up the stats for the last 12 months and it makes quite good reading.

Unique users3,201
Page views7,7276
Average visits per day13
Average visit length 2 minutes
Where from19 countries and 12 different time zones across 5 continents.

From nothing 12 months ago to the above that is not bad at all. Of course I wish that there was more feedback but I suppose that this a little unlikely by the nature of the site. The feedback that we have had has been mainly constructive and informative and thank you to all who have contributed. I am of course open to suggestions about subject matter for posts, and would love to hear of any S1000D events or news that I may have missed.

The Poll

Of course, we introduced the Poll a short while ago and the outcome is, I suppose, predictable. 65% of respondents are currently using S1000D and 35% believe they will be using S1000D in the future.

Mind you this sort of response does not look quite so good when you realise that in total only 46 viewers have actually made their mark in the appropriate box.

The Future - More postings

I have one or two more topics to cover in the next few weeks but one of them, the Business Benefits of S1000D, requires a accompanying document. It is not really feasible to have this subject all on the Blog page.

I am also in the process of defining some more questions for the poll. These will be linked to the Business Benefits aspect of S1000D.

The future - Higher Profile

Higher Profile? Well yes, apparently Google seems think so. In an email exchange with one of our respondents a colleague discovered that the other person thought that Martyn was a nom de plume. For what it is worth It is me. I have lived with this name for a year or two.

Here's to another great 12 months.

Thank you for this blog dedicated to the S1000D.
Even today, resources and method to implement S1000D within a project are scarce in Internet.
I'll spend some times to create a website explaining the steps to follow: how to choice the relevant CSDB, XML editor, software, informations about the workflow to set and so on.
I'll do that in English and french.
I'll send you the address as soon as the content/pictures are sufficient.
