Survey so far

Some of you may remember that last October I introduced a new survey to the Blog in an attempt to get a handle on the usage of the various issues of S1000D.

Well we are approximately 6 months on and the results are very interesting given the relatively low registration rate.

The Results

What S1000D Issue are you using?

The results so far are very interesting and are summarised in the following table.
S1000D Issue Percentage
Issue 1 Change 6 27
Issue 1 Change 7 7
Issue 1 Change 8 13
Issue 1 Change 9 40
Issue 2 Change 0 13
You will obviously note that there is no reported usage for anything after Issue 2 Change 0 and I know that not to be the case. I guess that this reflects the low number of responses so far.

I am going to leave the survey on the Blog and I will continue to monitor the situation (see comments below)

Are you using a CSDB

The second question relates to the usage of a CSDB and the result is:
70% Yes            30% No
This result shows that the managers responsible for the projects realise that to control the creation and editing of large number of Data Modules (or even a relatively small number as well) really does require some help more than a spreadsheet.

The Survey area of the Blog Page

One problem that may be causing the low response to the Blog Survey is the length of time that the actual survey takes to open. It is located at the bottom of the Blog Page and many may not spot it opening up.

I have to admit that whilst the survey plug-in is not very good, it was the best that was available that had no cost attached to it.

Just in case some of you have not yet seen the Survey pages I have included them here.

What version of S1000D are you using?
 Page 2 of the Survey
Are you using a CSDB?

However, before you get to this stage the plug-in has to start-up and that is not all that obvious. Below is part of the start up sequence.

There are other parts to this sequence but it can take quite a few seconds to get started and this is obviously dependant to some extent on the speed of your internet connection and how fast your machine is.

So that we can get a better idea of usage, if you have not already done so, please visit the survey and make your mark.

Martyn,

Thanks for the update on the Survey so far.

Perhapes you could try using Survey Monkey. They have a free version which allows you to ask up to 10 questions i believe.

And it is real easy to setup a survey and to respond to.
